NECO is a social enterprise that aims to reduce food insecurity and promote nutritional and technological education using automated hydroponic greenhouses and a mobile app for Brazilian schools.
History
It all began with the ambitious vision of a group of passionate undergraduate and postgraduate students determined to tackle food insecurity in Brazil using technology.
During the Seeds For The Future 2023 competition hosted by the Chinese multinational Huawei, this group proposed the concept of automated hydroponic greenhouses along with a monitoring and study application.
The innovative idea garnered widespread attention, propelling the team to victory in both the national and Latin American stages of the competition.
This triumph provided them with invaluable opportunities to participate in various events, expand their network, and engage with experts in technology, education, and agriculture.
Fast forward to 2024, buoyed by their success in the competition, NECO is now forging ahead as a social enterprise of 5 founder members: Alex Andrade, Ana Beatriz Leite, Cíntia Lucena, João Paulo Dias, and Tamires Alves.
